A
Liberal Marxist’s View of Internet Gambling
[ send
me this essay ]
This 5 page report discusses international Internet
gambling in the context of thinking exercised by a liberal
Marxist. The traditional Marxist viewpoint follows the
original thinking of Karl Marx that all events in human
society are determined by economic forces. Marx’s
ultimate goal was to liberate the world from the evil of
acquisitive materialism and lead the human race to a new
freedom. He saw humans as unable to overcome greed. And
certainly, greed plays an important role in gambling.
Therefore, a liberal Marxist is likely to find him/herself
in the unusual position of siding with ultra-conservatives
and the religious right regarding international Internet
gambling. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
